Allah Says About Signs of Creation

“Have those who disbelieve not seen that the heavens and the earth were joined together, then We split them apart, and We created from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?”

Quran | 21:30

This verse from Surah Al-Anbiyaa is one of the most scientifically remarkable verses in the Quran, revealed over 1400 years ago yet perfectly aligned with what modern science has come to discover. Allah describes how the heavens and the earth were once a single joined entity before He split them apart, and how every living thing was made from water. The verse then poses a direct question to those who disbelieve: will they not then believe? It is a verse that invites both faith and intellect to work together, showing that the signs of Allah’s existence are embedded in the very fabric of the universe. For anyone exploring the relationship between Islam and science or seeking evidence of the Quran’s divine origin, this verse stands as one of the most compelling proofs.

The description of the heavens and the earth being joined together and then split apart is strikingly similar to what scientists now refer to as the Big Bang, the theory that the universe began as a single, extremely dense point before expanding outward. The Quran made this statement at a time when no human being had the tools or knowledge to observe such a phenomenon. Equally remarkable is the declaration that every living thing was made from water. Modern biology confirms that water is the essential component of all life, making up the majority of every living cell and being the foundation upon which all biological processes depend. The fact that the Quran stated these truths centuries before they were scientifically confirmed is not a coincidence but a clear sign that this Book came from the One who created the universe itself. The closing question carries a tone of gentle challenge: with all these signs laid out before them, what more does a person need to believe?

Allah says in Surah Fussilat of the Quran, “We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth” (Quran 41:53), promising that as knowledge grows, the truth of the Quran will only become more evident. As Al-Khaliq, Allah is the Creator who brought everything into existence with perfect precision, and every new discovery in science only deepens the believer’s awe at the magnificence of His creation.
