The Secret One, The Inner One, The Intimate. He is Al-Batin, The One who is hidden or secret. He is unseen but His existence is known through signs.

Name and Meaning

Al-Batin (الباطن) translates to “The Hidden” or “The Inward.” This name signifies that Allah is beyond human perception and understanding. While His signs are evident, His true essence is hidden from creation. Nothing can fully comprehend Him.

Derived from the Arabic root ba ta nun (ب ط ن), this root includes meanings such as:
