The Last
The Last, The End, The Endless. He is Al-Akhir, The One whose existence will extend past the end of this universe. He will be the last, just as He is the first.
Name and Meaning
Al-Akhir (الاخر) translates to “The Last.” This name signifies that Allah is the One who remains after everything has ended. He has no end, and nothing will outlast Him. All creation will perish, but He is eternal.
Root and Linguistic Significance
Derived from the Arabic root hamza kha ra (ا خ ر), this root includes meanings such as:
- To come after or be last
- To remain or be delayed
- To be final in sequence
This root emphasizes finality and continuation after others.
Allah’s Role as Al-Akhir
As Al-Akhir, Allah will remain when everything else ceases to exist. The universe and all within it will come to an end, but He is everlasting. His existence is beyond time and unaffected by change.
