The Accounter

Name and Meaning
Al-Hasib (الحسيب) translates to “The Reckoner”, “The Accountant”, or “The Sufficient One.” This name signifies that Allah is the One who takes account of all deeds and actions. Nothing is overlooked, whether small or great. He is also sufficient for His servants, meaning they need no one besides Him.
Root and Linguistic Significance
Derived from the Arabic root ha sin ba (ح س ب), this root includes meanings such as:
- To calculate or account
- To consider or evaluate
- To be sufficient or enough
This root emphasizes Allah’s perfect reckoning and His complete sufficiency for all creation.
Allah’s Role as Al-Hasib
As Al-Hasib, Allah keeps precise account of every action, intention, and word. On the Day of Judgment, He will settle all accounts with perfect justice. At the same time, He is enough for those who rely upon Him, providing protection and support without need of anyone else.
