The First
The First, The Pre-Existing. He is Al-Awwal, He is The One whose existence is without beginning. He is truly the first, and nothing was before Him.
Name and Meaning
Al-Awwal (الاول) translates to “The First.” This name signifies that Allah existed before everything. He has no beginning, and nothing preceded Him. All creation came into existence after Him.

Derived from the Arabic root hamza waw lam (ا و ل), this root includes meanings such as:

Allah’s Role as Al-Awwal
