    Surah Abasa
    He Frowned

[The Prophet] frowned and turned away,

    M

Because there came to him the blind man [interrupting].

    A

But what could tell you but that perchance he might grow [in spiritual understanding]?-

    C

Or that he might receive reminder, and the teaching might profit him?

    Y

As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient,

    T
    فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ

    To him do you attend;

    F
    وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ

Though it is no blame to you if he grow not [in spiritual understanding].

    G

But as to him who came to you striving earnestly,

    S

And with fear [in his heart],

    B

    Of him were you unmindful.

    Z

By no means [should it be so]! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:

    N

Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.

    H

[It is] in Books held [greatly] in honour,

    D

Exalted [in dignity], kept pure and holy,

    J

[Written] by the hands of scribes-

    Q
    كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍۢ

    Honourable and Pious and Just.

    F
    قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ

    Woe to man! What has made him reject Allah;

    O
    مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ

From what stuff has He created him?

    J
    مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ

    From a sperm-drop: He has created him, and then moulds him in due proportions;

    W
    ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ

    Then does He make His path smooth for him;

    S
    ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ

    Then He causes him to die, and putts him in his grave;

    O
    ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ

Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up [again].

    E

By no means has he fulfilled what Allah has commanded him.

    V

Then let man look at his food, [and how We provide it]:

    U

For that We pour forth water in abundance,

    K

And We split the earth in fragments,

    R

    And produce therein corn,

    T

    And Grapes and nutritious plants,

    S

    And Olives and Dates,

    I

And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,

    Z

    And fruits and fodder,

    U

For use and convenience to you and your cattle.

    Q

At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,

    X

That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,

    I

And from his mother and his father,

    Z

And from his wife and his children.

    I

Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern [of his own] to make him indifferent to the others.

    Y

Some faces that Day will be beaming,

    L

    Laughing, rejoicing.

    P

And other faces that Day will be dust-stained,

    J

    Blackness will cover them:

    C

Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity.
